"Mirrored Islands" is a surreal image of twin islands rising up from the waves off the Maine coast where artist Greg Mort lives and paints each summer. Pine trees loom as the islands shores are hidden by an illusive band of fog.
Mort shows his mastery of the landscape in this understated yet powerful image. Through his exceptional skill he is able to provide the viewer with just enough information to solve the mystery. The artists use of color in this painting is well translated with subtle brush strokes and layering of color upon color not unlike the way the old masters used oils. Mort chose "Mirrored Islands" as one of his limited edition lithographs to share his fascination with the mysteries of the coast of Maine.
The original watercolor painting of "Mirrored Islands" is in a private collection in Delaware. The overall image size of the limited edition four color lithograph of "Mirrored Islands" is 24" X 31". It was printed on museum quality Mohawk Superfine eighty pound paper by the fine artisans of Westland Printers in Burtonsville, Maryland. Each piece is individually hand titled, numbered and signed by the artist. "Mirrored Islands" was published in a limited edition of only four hundred and fifty.
